When you click the home button in an application on the iPhone or iPod Touch, it brings you back to the home screen, but the program is still running in memory in the background. This can lead to a laggy performance overall if the system is running too much at once. The way around this is to force quit your applications. read more

Updated: It may not be the normal way for windows users to run programs, but the run window can be useful for those who do not like keeping the desktop cluttered with shortcut icons or for those who are tired of having to navigate to a specific folder to open up the program they need. read more
